Robots That Vacuum and Mop
Robots that vacuum and mop provide the convenience of removing dry debris (dust, dirt) and wet messes (spills and staining) in one go without the need to change devices. They can also reduce space compared to two separate units, particularly in smaller living areas.
A good combination bot will have impressive navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models that have docks that allow them to automatically empty their bins, replenish their water tanks, and wash the mopping pads.
1. Eufy S1 Pro
It has plenty to offer for its relatively modest price and is one of the easiest robots we've tested to install. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and an easy-to-follow guide will have you running with a clean and complete dust bag, floor solution for hard floors and water tank in no time.
The S1 Pro is a powerful little machine that cleans up a mess and vacuums well too. Its mops spin at high speeds and exert 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, making short work of dirt, pet hair and dried sticky spills. The vacuum cleaner comes with four power settings, a range of brushes and attachments as well as an intuitive app that lets you choose the kind of cleaning you want for each room.
You can, for example request the robot to clean the kitchen and the living room thoroughly, but leave the bedroom in its own space. The S1 Pro's front colision sensors and its smart navigation technology are superb as the robot is capable of detecting tiny obstacles that other models struggle with. The only problem is that it tends to crash into walls and objects at a high speed. However, a quick look at the cleaning history on the app will reveal exactly what the robot completed, where it's moving, and what obstacles it has encountered or avoided.
The docking station comes with an LCD display that shows the time when maintenance is required, such as emptying debris and rinsing the water tank that is dirty. It's also capable of mixing detergent automatically into the water tank, by using a 600ml bottle filled with the eufy's solution.
Both the S1 Pro mop and vacuum have a long run time. The mop can operate for 184 minutes in Quiet Mode, and the vacuum can last 136 mins in standard mode, before needing recharging or returning to the base. You can also view the entire cleaning information in the app, which is intuitively laid out and easy to understand although we would have liked to be able to distinguish between a mop only vacuum and mop and vacuum clean when looking at a cleaned area in the history of cleaning.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the latest version of the company's flagship robot vacuum and mop. In contrast to the model of last year it comes with an agitator that doubles in its mopping pad, which greatly improves carpet cleaning capabilities. The S8 Pro Ultra also has enhanced suction power, which allows it to pull up small hairs and other particles that other robotic cleaners might miss.
The Roborock model, just like the other two I tried it has infrared and a reactive 3D obstacle avoidance technology that helps it avoid obstacles such as furniture, walls, and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and incorporates two cameras that can recognize objects, determining if they are walls or other surfaces. It can then change its path in a way that is automatic and clean around them without stumbling.
It's the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed, but it's also the most feature-packed. Its sleek and angular design is eye-catching and it has only three physical buttons that include the power button that also resumes cleaning; a mop-only switch that doubles as a child lock and a home button that can send the robot back to its dock. Lifting the hinged lid reveals a 350ml dust bin and 200ml water tank. The water tank is automatically filled and the bin automatically refills.
The only issue I have found with this model is that the VibraRise mop pad mount is not removable. You can replace the mopping cloth when needed, but it's difficult to take the mount off for manual washing. I've found that any plush carpet that the robot passes will be in contact with the Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, and can cause scratches.
The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a range of intelligent features that include support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. You can manage and set up these through the Roborock app that is also home to its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app also allows you to schedule cleanings, monitor the battery life and maintain your components. However, you'll need to jump through a few hurdles to enable voice control on this model which is a pity considering how well it performs otherwise.
3. Dreame X40

Smart DuoScrub, which is a new feature in its mops, uses two mop heads with high-speed motors to scrub floors more thoroughly. It also has a suction force of 7,000Pa. This is more than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra and Ecovacs Deebots T20 Omni. It can also vacuum up pet hair, small dirt particles and remove spills and dirty spots.
